Alleria Stanley, Retired Soldier and Community Advocate, Announces Run for Maryland House of Delegates, District 4
Frederick County, MD — Retired U.S. Army veteran Alleria Stanley has officially announced her candidacy for the Maryland House of Delegates, District 4, representing communities across Frederick County. After serving her country honorably for 20 years, Ms. Stanley is ready to continue her lifelong mission of service — this time as a voice for the people of Frederick County.
Ms. Stanley’s two decades of active-duty military service included a combat tour in Afghanistan. She began her Army career as an Apache helicopter repairer before transitioning into radiology technology — a role that deepened her passion for helping others.
“I am running for House Delegate because Frederick County families need real representatives who will make real changes,” Ms. Stanley said. “Throughout my 20-year Army career, I learned what it means to serve others, and how that service can make a significant impact on individuals and communities. After retiring from the Army, I could have settled anywhere. But I chose Frederick County. Now, I want to work for the people of this county to solve the issues facing our families.”
Since retiring from military service, Ms. Stanley has dedicated herself to improving the lives of service members, veterans, and families across Frederick County and the nation. She currently serves as:
Vice President, Transgender American Veterans Association
Board Member, Mission Belonging (formerly Community Building Art Works)
Policy Team Member, Minority Veterans of America (Washington, D.C.)
Facilitator, PFLAG National Military Family Support Group
Founding Member, Modern Military Family Advisory Committee
Locally, Ms. Stanley is a Commissioner on the Frederick County Human Relations Commission and serves on the Board of Directors for the United Democrats of Frederick County.
As a mother of five, widow, and survivor, Ms. Stanley understands the real challenges Frederick County families face — from affordable housing and job stability to community growth, farmland protections, and funding priorities.
“No matter who you vote for, where you live, or what you do for a living, in the end, we all need connection,” Ms. Stanley said. “We all need each other. I want to bring the residents of District 4 together. We are all facing hardships. Regardless of your party, I’ll serve YOU.”
