Meet Alleria Stanley

Hi, I’m Alleria Stanley, candidate for Maryland House Delegate for District 4. I’m a Retired Soldier of the United States Army, with 20 years of active duty service, including a combat tour to Afghanistan. During my Army career, I served as an Apache helicopter repairer before transitioning into radiology technology. My work in the medical field grew my desire to help others, specifically those in marginalized and ever-growing populations.

Since my retirement, I have worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those in Frederick County and nationwide. I volunteer on several boards for local and national nonprofit organizations dedicated to serving military service members, veterans, and military families, including:

  • Transgender American Veterans Association, Vice President

  • Mission Belonging (formerly Community Building Art Works) - Member, Board of Directors

  • Minority Veterans of America - Policy Team Member, Washington, D.C.

  • PFLAG National Military Family Support Group, Facilitator

  • Modern Military Family Advisory Committee, Founding Member

I also serve as Commissioner on the Human Relations Commission of Frederick County and on the Board of Directors for the United Democrats of Frederick County.

I am a founding member and facilitator of several peer-to-peer support groups dedicated to addressing inequality among marginalized communities. I have appeared in many media features, interviews, and discussion panels as an advocate for military and veteran rights.

A Representative for Everyone

In both my advocacy and my everyday life, I strive to make everyone feel supported, understood, and included. There is nothing worse than feeling like no one understands what you’re going through. No one should feel alone. As your delegate, I will listen to your concerns and work across the aisle to address the real-life problems you and your family face.

As a mother of five children, widow, survivor, and resident of Frederick County, I understand the challenges our communities face: affordable housing, long-term job stability, community growth and historical regulations, farmland protections, and town and county funding priorities. Each constituent has a story to tell – and I want to listen.

Decisions are made by those who show up. Right now, District 4 incumbent delegates are not showing up for you. They aren’t attending meetings, they aren’t listening to your concerns, and they aren’t making decisions that improve your lives.

I will show up and work for you. I will be your voice and represent your families in the House of Delegates.

A Proven Leader and Problem-Solver

My decades of military service taught me how to collaborate effectively, whether with individuals or entire communities, to identify and implement meaningful solutions. I have served on joint service assignments, working with different bureaucracies and branches, and handling budgets totaling millions of dollars. These experiences taught me how to work side by side across departments – with those who agree and those who disagree – and find common ground.

As a delegate, I will put these lessons into practice to serve the residents of Frederick County.

When I’m not attending meetings or advocating for service members and veterans, I enjoy listening to music, relaxing with my cats in my Brunswick home, and visiting with my five grown children and one grandchild.
