Transparent Governance, Fiscal Accountability, and Veteran Advocacy
Public service is a solemn public trust that demands transparency, fiscal integrity, and servant leadership. Government exists to solve real problems for everyday people, not to reward well-connected political insiders or corporate lobbyists. I will introduce and champion sweeping ethics reforms, expand state campaign finance transparency, and advocate for small-dollar public matching funds to diminish the corrupting power of wealthy special interests. Furthermore, I will champion democratic electoral reforms, including Ranked Choice Voting, to make our elections more competitive, representative, and accountable to everyday voters.
Bringing deep analytical discipline from my career managing complex hospital operations and military aviation maintenance programs, I will scrutinize state budget line items with precision. Maryland faces long-term structural deficits that demand fiscal discipline. However, we must balance the state budget by closing corporate tax loopholes through mandatory combined reporting, ending unnecessary corporate subsidies, and auditing state agency procurement processes to eliminate contractor waste. We must never balance the budget by cutting vital social safety nets or raising taxes on working families. Frederick County taxpayers send significant revenues to Annapolis, and I will fight aggressively to bring those dollars back home to fund our schools, roads, and first responders.
Drawing upon my twenty years of active military service, I will serve as an unyielding champion for veterans, military retirees, and service families. We must eliminate bureaucratic licensing barriers so veterans can transfer military technical certifications directly into civilian credentials in healthcare, mechanical repair, and skilled construction trades. I will fight to exempt military retirement pensions from state income tax, fully fund specialized veteran mental health and suicide prevention services, and ensure no veteran experiences homelessness in Maryland. We must also strengthen civilian transition pipelines, support military spouses seeking professional portability, and protect earned benefits across state programs.
Finally, I commit to establishing a responsive, accessible constituent service office in District 4. Navigating state agencies, unemployment claims, and veteran benefits can overwhelm residents. My office will cut through red tape, dismantle bureaucratic roadblocks, and deliver immediate, compassionate assistance to every neighbor. Our service members defended our nation, and our state government must honor its commitments to all who call Maryland home.
